If she want to use a free email like Yahoo, just have her go to http://mail.yahoo.com and sign up there.

It comes with your service provider account. If your service provider is comcast, then you get a username@comcast.net email address as a part of what you pay for.
You then need to configure the incoming email server address and outgoing email server address in your email application on your PC. You do this in the email applications properties screens. The server addresses you get from your service provider.
You could also set up a web based email account like a yahoo.com or gmail.com (google) account.
