Yahoo's free accounts cannot be accessed through POP3. Only the Mail Plus accounts (Yahoo's premium accounts with an annual fee) can be accessed this way.

Reply:IMHO Yahoo has made a huge error in closing off pop3 access to send and receive email, whilst not making it possible for people around the world to sign up and pay a small reasonable fee to continue !

Many users do not have broadband access and are dependant upon pop3 and smtp to access email and keep in touch...

Email received from Yahoo! Customer Care :

Thank you for contacting Yahoo! Customer Care.

At this time, there is not an Australian based customer support address.

I understand that you were wanting Yahoo! Mail Plus to take advantage of the Pop options that come along with it. Yahoo! Mail Plus is only available to those within the United States (as indicated in the disclaimer at the bottom of the advertising page).

Your previous purchase of Yahoo! Mail Plus has been closed and fully refunded to you as the service is not available in your area. I understand that you are currently looking for an email service that has POP access available. With Yahoo! Services, you will need to sign up for

either Custom Mailbox or Business Mail in order to user POP access with Yahoo!.

To view these services, please go to:

http://smallbusiness.yahoo.com/email/

At this time, this is the only option that Yahoo! has for users outside the US that require POP access without having a business online.

Thank you again for contacting Yahoo! Customer Care.
